I came to ceramics in my teenage years and was fortunate to be encouraged and mentored by many potters and ceramic artists along my path. I apprenticed to potter Brian McGee in County Donegal, Ireland before completing an undergraduate degree in ceramic art at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University.
I have worked in studio and production potteries in Vermont and Colorado, where I was exposed to the broad range of possibility when it comes to business and studio models. I had indispensable learning opportunities at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in CO, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in ME, and Penland School of Crafts in NC as a student and a teaching assistant. A two-year residency at Odyssey Center for Ceramic Arts in Asheville, NC, followed by a year-long residency at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Newcastle, ME provided me with the time and space to develop my skills and my voice in clay.

I graduated from Clemson University with a degree in mechanical engineering, and I have been employed as an engineer my whole working career. However, I have had the opportunity to hold two artist-in-residence positions, one at Clayworks in Charlotte, NC, and the other at Odyssey Center for Ceramic Arts In Asheville, NC.
While living in Asheville, I taught several workshops on Japanese serving ware and Ikebana vases.
